Women News Network

“Educate a woman – Educate the world!”

Started in 2006 by Lys Anzia known to be the first woman on a programming board for public tv channel 12 KBDI in Denver, CO in 1978. She began her career in public radio as a journalist and become a broadcast producer for radio syndicate WINGS- Women's International News Gathering Source. In 2006, she was a United Nations Delegate representing WILPF- The Women's International League for Peace and Freedom an organization formed in 1915 to unite women worldwide who oppose oppression and exploitation. She covered an assignment on global women's issues and realized the importance of a voice to raise awareness of all the suffering endured. She launched the not for profit news network with staff writers from different regions of the world; stemming from West Africa, Egypt, Iran, India, Bulgaria, Argentina and many more. Each of them contribute and come from backgrounds in peace and human rights, women's advocacy, gender and social development.

Judging by the stories that are featured, it is of the utmost importance that people are made aware of. Steering away from the mainstream news that is so readily available and so easily accessible to the masses, finding this unfiltered network of true human matters has made me share with family and friends in a quickfire. From the stories of human slave trade, hunger, genital mutilation, this is where it hits most in the heart and makes you reevaluate what's of value and importance not only in your life but others and the generations to come.
